I've always loved chocolate... perhaps a little too much for my own good, though not in the way you might think. When I was about eight years old, it actually caused me to be run over. I had called in at the newsagents on my way home after school and with my pocket money, had purchased a small bar of Cadbury's Fruit & Nut. I was so engrossed in unwrapping the bar of Fruit & Nut that I failed to take note of the fact that I was stepping over the kerb as I did so, right into the path of an oncoming car. Luckily I escaped with grazes and even more luckily, the newsagents was right opposite a doctor's surgery. The nurse on duty there patched me up expertly before taking me home.
As I grew older, I found that my palate changed. I don't know what it's like where you live, but here in the UK most of what I call "mainstream" chocolate - Cadbury's Dairy Milk or Fruit & Nut, Mars, Snickers, Galaxy, Flake etc. - is far too sweet for me and doesn't pack enough of a chocolatey "punch". As I grew older, I therefore gradually stopped eating chocolate but I missed the taste nonetheless.
This is why ten years ago, I was so delighted to discover Green and Blacks organic chocolate. The company was founded in 1991 by husband and wife team Craig Sams and Jo Fairley. Craig was already running an organic food company called Whole Earth and one day someone sent him a sample of 70% dark chocolate made from organic cocoa beans. Both he and Jo were so impressed by the taste that they were inspired to start Green and Blacks. Over time, the range produced by Green and Blacks expanded and now includes ice cream and hot chocolate/cocoa powder, as well as bars of chocolate.
If plain, dark chocolate is your thing then Green and Blacks does a choice of dark chocolate with 70% cocoa solids, and the even darker/richer bar with 85% cocoa solids. These two dark chocolates can be used in cooking, and not just cake baking either: used sparingly, they're a great addition to chilli con carne! Green and Blacks also does flavoured dark chocolate, including mint, cherry, ginger, hazelnut & currant, espresso (which is my personal favourite out of all Green and Blacks' dark chocolates), and Maya Gold, which is flavoured with orange and spices. (Out of all the bars that Green and Blacks does, Maya Gold is the only one which is certified fair trade so if you're looking for fair trade as well as organic, then this is the one to go for.)
If it's milk chocolate you're after, then Green and Blacks also has a good choice, though not quite as extensive as the choice of dark chocolate flavours. Their unflavoured milk chocolate contains 34% cocoa and has a lovely rich grown-up taste without being too sweet - exactly what I was searching for during my twilight chocolate-free years! You can also buy caramel, toffee and almond flavoured milk chocolate, and they also do a gorgeous white chocolate that contains real vanilla.
So if you love chocolate, or you know someone who loves chocolate, then give Green and Blacks a try. Not only will you get great flavour, you'll also be buying organic. And because the chocolate comes in bar form rather than silly little pieces in an overblown and elaborate box, you'll be getting more chocolate for your money. What's not to like?

My sentiments exactly! LOL
Green and Black's is my favourite brand of chocolate. Nice and rich.
My husband introduced me to Green & Black's when I visited him in the UK (before we were married). He brought over several tubs of the cocoa powder because at the time we couldn't get it here in Texas. Now, we can pretty much find all of it except for the White Chocolate.
