Buy a sterling silver cat charm, pendant or earrings online
I am a devoted servant to three cats, and I love jewellery - it doesn't have to be expensive jewellery, just something that's been put together with a bit of imagination and craftsmanship. So anyone buying me a gift knows that all they've got to do is find a suitable cat-themed piece of jewellery, such as a charm, pendant or brooch, and I'm happy!
However, there are caveats. I don't do "bling" - rhinestones and sparkle don't suit me. And as highly as I rate Hello Kitty, it's not really me either; personally I think Hello Kitty jewellery looks lovely on teenage girls and 20-somethings, but not on a 45 year old woman with greying hair. Likewise, anything "comedy", too chunky or too garish is also out.
So once the bling and the comedy jewellery is weeded out, what does that leave? I did a bit of research, and thought I'd share it in this hub. If you're a cat lover and want to treat yourself, or if you're looking for a birthday, Christmas or Valentines day gift for someone, you might just get some ideas.
I've concentrated on sterling silver because it's a precious metal and precious metals are a great investment, but is also inexpensive enough to let you find something to suit any pocket. Also many women find that they prefer sterling silver to gold - it looks great against a tan, but it also suits pale skins as well!
If it's charms you're after, then you have a choice: the conventional type of charm with a bale, or a Pandora style bead charm. The Reflections sterling silver cat bead charm is designed to fit all popular types of bead bracelet, and has a lovely soulful expression on his face! Or if you just want a cat's head, how about Sabrina Silver's Happy Cat Face bead charm? This will also fit popular makes of bead bracelet and has a 5 mm hole.
Amazon also has a good choice of sterling silver cat charms for conventional chain charm bracelets, some plain and some with enamel or jewels. The Thomas Sabo one is a clip on charm - worth bearing in mind if you or the person you're buying for prefers that type of fastening.
All the charms described above can of course be worn on a necklace instead of a bracelet. Or how about something that's designed specifically as a pendant? Amazon has a large range of silver cat pendants, including a really cute blown glass one with Swarovski crystals, a silver and amber one with green amber for the eyes and a yellow amber body, and a plain one who dangles from a chain by his paws!
While browsing, I came across some gorgeous sterling silver enamel cat pendants by Zarah. The black enamel cat pendant shown is designed for Zarah by Marilyn Grame and is 1 & 3/8 inches high. The Zarah range features all sorts of other animals as well as cats, and is notable for its creative yet subtle use of colour. My favourite piece is the "Time to Leave" cat pendant, designed by Donna Boiman - there's also a matching pair of earrings and brooch.
In fact, Zarah has a magnificent range of sterling silver and enamel cat brooches and earrings. I also found a fab pair of plain sterling silver abstract flat cat head earrings by Wildthings, which remind me of the modernistic vintage cat jewellery produced by Beau Sterling. Or how about a pair of silver and multi-coloured mother of pearl earrings, which are delicate enough for a young girl to wear, but would suit someone of any age? The choice is yours.

I didn't know felines had inspired such interesting jewellery! No end to our versatility, huh? :)
